More Halo 3 Tips

Master Chief

It seems like Halo 3 Tips is something a lot of people are looking for! That is why we decided to share more halo 3 tips with you halo 3 addicts!

Sniping:

When you’re working on your own no-scopes try to have a steady control of your shot instead of wildly sweeping across an opponent’s head or body in hopes of a lucky kill. You don’t need head shots with the sniper. In Halo 3 especially, where the sniper’s firing rate is slower you can go for an easier body shot if you’re at enough of a distance to confidently finish them off with your secondary weapon.

Power Items:

Every advanced player, through habit and constant communication, knows when all the power items will return. In hotly contested games, the difference between a win or loss can be a single power item. Even if you’re practicing in matchmaking by yourself, always be mindful of as many of the important items and weapons on the map as possible. This will make you a better player immediately, as you will consider power itesms as part of how you position yourself and play a map.

General Halo 3 Strategy:

Don’t give up on a gun fight in Halo 3. Many Halo 2 players seem to forget that auto-aim has been drastically reduced in Halo 3. This places emphasis on aiming and means that you can come back in a battle rifle fight even if you’re one shot down. Great players never let up until they are in the death screen.

King of the Hill Tips:

  • Know your hill spawn locations.
  • Remember to duck. In general, if you need to get away, it’s wise to look at the ground to show the enemy less of your head.
  • Similar to oddball, over time a wise player learns when to leave a damaged enemy alone and instead garner some points. In a similar vein, know when to take a death.
  • Use the red X. The red Xs that indicates where you teammates have died. Throughout the game, being particularly mindful of where your squadmates die will let you know where the enemy may be located. Always keep this in mind.

Halo 3 Tips

Master Chief

From now on we will share more halo 3 tips and tricks that are useful in your gameplay! This halo 3 blog will also get a redesign in the upcoming month! Expect new and hot sections with downloads and the latest halo 3 live news! Lets kick off with some halo 3 tips:

Spartan Laser Tip:

In stealth, continuously charge your laser half-way until you spot an opponent. After you spot an opponent, stand behind a wall while charging the laser giving yourself just enough time to sneak out and hit your target without having to wait. This also prevents enemies from noticing the red laser. (source: mlgpro.com, added May 3, 2008)

Battle Rifle Tips & Strategy:

One thing that needs to be emphasized to a halo player (especially newcomers to the game) is the importance of the battle rifle. If you look at the stats of ANY pro the battle rifle will be their tool of destruction raking in around 30% of their kills. It may be discouraging at first due to the fact that the reticule of the battle rifle is much smaller than that of the assault rifle which makes it harder to hit you’re mark. However if you stick with it the reward is well worth your time. Here are some tips for using the battle rife:

1. Aim for the neck! When you shoot the rifle will kick up a bit resulting in the bullets landing in a higher place than you are actually aiming. If you aim for the upper neck to chin area all of the bullets (battle rifle has a three shot burst) will land right in his face.

2. You have to slightly lead you’re targets when they are moving. Unlike in halo 2, it takes you’re battle rifle shot a fraction of a second to get to wherever it’s going. So if someone is running left to right and you’re aiming for the center of their head, the bullets will fly behind him. However if you aim for the right side of the head you’re targets forward motion will cause you to hit around his ear.

3. Move when you shoot! If you are standing still you are an easy target. Try to strafe left to right while fighting with the battle rifle (or any gun for that matter).

Start using the battle rifle as much as possible and apply the techniques listed above. In time you should get so used it that you feel naked without one. Instead of chasing someone from 50 yards away, tearing up the sky with you’re blazing assault rifle, you can be increasing you’re teabag count on a pile of dead bodies.

Using the Battle Rifle more effectively

tfarmer

Here are some tips that might help you in outbring your opponent. I had trouble getting used to the battle rifle in halo 2 but on halo 3 it is much easier to compete with since there aren’t double shooting glitches or bxr’s. These are some tips that i have learned.

  • You don’t have to hit head shots the first three shots you take, as long as the fourth hits the head you get the kill. So if a target is jumping and bumping just take three body shots while moving your reticle up for the head shot on the fourth
  • While in a firefight with an opponent use strafing, jumping and crouching to your advantage. If the target is across map or close to it use a mixture of short and long strafes to out smart him. Crouching and jumping isn’t effective until the BR is used in med to short range attacks. The best time to jump or use the less expected crouch is when you are “one shot” (or when your shields are down.)
  • Don’t chase every “one shot” or everyone that you damage. A ton of chasing has been going on in Halo 3 as I’ve noticed in online play. It is easy to get down to one shot and duck around a corner, drop a grenade and one shot your opponent so chasing is not a good idea unless you know without a doubt that your opponent doesn’t have a power weapon or is out of grenades. I have racked up kills like this especially in lone wolves.
  • Cross-Firing is always a good idea in team br games. If you and your team set up to where you can easily double or triple br, you have an edge over your opponent. Your team should play a lot of custom games to practice setting up and find out what positions work for each person based on their style of play on each map so that you can easily out br the opposing team.
  • One of the most basic BR skills is the one-shot. If you see an opponent who doesn’t know you are there toss a grenade at his feet and take one shot to the head and you have an easy kill.
  • Another basic yet often useful tactic is to beat down then one-shot. This should be used when your opponent is very close and only if they are using a BR. If they are using an AR I would not recommend using this because of the easy burst and beat down they can counter you with and most likely they will win that battle every time.
  • The crouch jump while using a BR has saved my butt in tons of situations. If the opponent is out BRing you, you can even the odds by jumping and repeatedly hitting crouch while in the air and taking as many shots at the opponent as you can. It takes a lot of practice but once you get it down you can become a great BR gunner.
